Podium at Miller Motorsport Park At the end of the of the 30 minute qualifying session this certainly seemed to be the case, an all KIA front row lock out with Ben on 2nd in the number 36 machine.

As race 1 got underway the Kia duo settled into a nice rhythm and held onto their 1, 2 formation for the first half. As the minutes ticked away Ben began to lose front tyre grip and it wasn’t long before he had to defend from the Porsche Cayman in 3rd. Unfortunately as the laps went by the experienced British driver wasn’t able to hold on and dropped to 4th by the flag. Mark Wilkins did an excellent job in the number 38 Kia Optima to bring home the team’s first win of the season.

The race 2 grid was decided by the fastest laps from race 1, so this time the Kinetic motorsport duo started 3rd and 4th. As the lights went out Ben made a superb start from the outside of row 2 and was up to 2nd exciting turn 1. He wasn’t finished there however and a brave dive down the inside of Michael Cooper’s Blackdog Speed Shop run machine put him into the lead by turn 4. He was able to maintain this position for the first half of the race before again starting to struggle with a loss of front grip, dropping to 3rd by the flag.

Ben was upbeat afterwards “It was good to get a podium in race 2 and that first lap was great, everything just seemed to open up for me. Having a 1,2 in qualifying was fantastic for the team, it would have been nice to convert that in the races, but this place is hard on tyres, so it’s a little tricky. Both cars ran right up the front all weekend, so that bodes well for the rest of the season.”
