Ben heads back out to the States to compete in the Ultra-competitive Continental Tires Series The weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts, as early during practice, break pad knock off caused Paul to lose brakes going into turn 1 and make contact with the tyre barrier. After some great work from all the Turner crew, the car was turned around and ready for qualifying Saturday morning.

Despite a trip to hospital due to the earlier incident, and little running, Paul did a great job in qualifying to eventually end up 12th in the 15 minute session.

The Canadian started the race and did a very good first stint to eventually hand over the 96 BMW to the young Brit in 10th place. With some good laps and great strategy they found themselves in 4th with 45 minutes to go of the 2.5 hour race. As the final full course yellow came to an end, it left a final 3 lap dash to the flag with Ben still sat near the front in 6th place. Unfortunately, going into the last corner of the very last lap, contact between the Turner BMW and the 46 Fall-Line Motorsport car ended in both going off and the 96 car eventually coming home in 16th.

Ben was very disappointed afterwards “That was really gutting. Paul is defending his championship and I just wanted to try and bring him home some solid points today, while his regular co-driver is away. Considering the problems we’ve had this weekend, I think we all would have been very happy with 6th, and to come so close is very upsetting. I have to say a massive thank you to Paul, Will Turner and the whole team for making me so welcome. I’ll be watching their results with interest.”
