The 2012 season gets under way at Barcelona Escuela Española de Pilotos sourced a new car for the year, so the Mosler was new to the team, Francisco and Pedro. Therefore, no-one knew what to expect going into Round 1 of the VdeV Championship at circuit de Catalunya.

Qualifying got the weekend off to a great start, with Ben putting the number 10 Mosler 2nd in the 34 car strong grid, setting the team up perfectly for the 6 hour endurance yet to come.

Pedro started the race and did a very good stint, keeping the Mosler well in contention. Next up was Francisco and again a solid stint saw the team still well up the order, fighting amongst the front of the field. A third of the way through, it was the young Brits turn to step in. Unfortunately not long into the stint a small issue with the exhaust caused him to pit and force the Escuela Española de Pilotos into making repairs, costing valuable time. Despite good, quick stints from then on, 10th was the best they could salvage at the flag.

Ben was philosophical afterwards “It was just one of those things. We came here with a new car and had done almost zero testing, so it was always going to be tough doing 6 hours without any issues. Having said that, the car proved to be very fast and Francisco and Pedro got used to driving a Mosler very quickly despite not having driven one before. I think things look very good for future races, once we get around the problems you are always faced with when running something new. I can’t wait for the next one!”
