New Jersey Motorsport Park After struggling during testing, the team on the number 33 car decided to take a bit of a gamble going into qualifying, and made some major untested changes to the car before the session. It was instantly noticeable that the changes had worked with Ben putting the BMW 5th with his first flying lap, significantly faster than he had been during testing.

As he had qualified, it was the Brit who would start the 2.5 hour race in gruelling 40 degree heat and it was going to be tough. Unfortunately the car was brought down to the fan walk too late, meaning things were about to get even tougher as they were told they would have to start last, from the pitlane. Unfazed, Ben stormed through the field, at one stage running as high as second and eventually coming into the pits in 4th. An issue in the pitstop dropped the Kinetic run BMW back down the order, before a good drive by Jade brought them back up to 9th by the flag.

Ben was happy afterwards ďIt was a really fun race. To be honest, starting from the pitlane probably didnít make much difference in the end. We were up to 4th before the stops through a combination of full course cautions, strategy and speed so were well in contention. Itís a shame about the problem in the pitstop, but these things happen and it still wasnít a bad result. I canít wait for the next one in Mid-Ohio, the races are so competitive, and they are a lot of fun.Ē
